EBay intends to capitalize on the Amazon Prime Day buzz by offering thousands of deals starting on July 16.

The online marketplace was quick to stress in the announcement—as a sticking point to Amazon—"no membership required … ever." EBay will put thousands of of in-demand items on sale including electronics, home, fashion and sporting goods at up to 80% off the regular price. And all items will include free shipping.

The announcement comes just days after eBay announced its new Best Price Guarantee program, which allows consumers to get 110% rebate on an item if they find it for less money on a competitor's website.

EBay joins other retailers in announcing special deals and promotions around the same time as Amazon's 2018 Prime Day.

This year, Amazon is starting the consumer holiday on July 16 and it will continue for 36 hours. And rightfully so, as data confirms the extended shopping lift of the marketplace went well beyond just Amazon deals. In fact, many mass merchants reported a triple-digit sales boom during Prime Day 2017.
