Lord & Taylor has teamed up with Walmart to reinvent the big-box retailer's online shopping experience. Expected to launch this spring, Walmart.com will feature premium fashion brands that come directly from Lord & Taylor's flagship store.

“Our goal is to create a premium fashion destination on Walmart.com,” said Denise Incandela, head of fashion, Walmart U.S. e-commerce. “We see customers on our site searching for higher-end items, and we are expanding our business online to focus on adding specialized and premium shopping experiences, starting with fashion. We’re excited that Lord & Taylor is part of the team we’re working with as we continue to create a new Walmart.com."
In conjunction with the new fashion, Walmart.com will introduce some new changes to the online shopping experience, including a dedicated area in the Walmart app for Lord & Taylor products.
The opportunity is huge for the high-end retailer that is looking to reach a wider set of consumers and expand its digital presence.
Adding Lord & Taylor is part of Walmart.com's recent plan to expand its online assortment. It currently offers more than 60 million items on the site, up from 20 million in 2016.
Walmart has also attempted to beef up its digital shopping experience in time for the holiday shopping season. Last month the company announced it would start accepting mobile returns on merchandise through the Walmart app.
