Amazon Business announced a new perk for SMBs that take advantage of the Business Prime Shipping membership. The Essentials Plan, at $179 a year, gives customers up to three users on their business shipping account.
Amazon Business will continue to offer other shipping plans for accounts with anywhere from to to more than 100 users.
The idea behind the new offering, according to Martin Rohde, head of commercial customers for Amazon Business, was to offer the same convenient experience to shopping Amazon at home.

In addition to tools and features, Amazon Business recently partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to create a playbook for operating a small business, from procurement process to floor plans.
"The Small Business Office Playbook details all of the steps necessary for getting a new office space up-and-running and an existing office space in tip-top condition, including how to select the right office space, plan an office layout, choose office furniture and supplies, find the right suppliers and ultimately keep office costs down," Rohde told FierceRetail.

Small businesses have unique needs from other retailers, and in 2018, the top concerns include getting supplies in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Another concern, according to Rohde, is purchase spend.
"A significant amount of money is spent on nonstrategic or managed supplies every year, spanning categories such as office, computers, software, food service, janitorial and more. This 'tail spend' can be costly and time-consuming for businesses, as it requires managing hundreds or even thousands of different suppliers," he said. To help out small businesses, Amazon created the analytics dashboard, a tool that allows businesses to see—in charts and graphs–exactly how their employees are spending on Amazon Business.
"This gives small businesses greater insights on their spending in order to better control their bottom lines," Rohde added.
Looking toward the future, Amazon Business is looking forward to finding new ways to innovate the shopping experience.
"It's only the beginning–we will continue to build out features in areas that really make a difference for our customers," Rohde said.
